My weekend with Neil and Sara was fantastic! I wish they could have stayed longer…it’s always a blast when we get together. I can’t wait until May when I get to see them again.
We did so much this weekend and I took tons of pictures.
My sisters birthday was today (Happy Birthday C-Love!) and on Saturday she had a party at her house.
This is my sister’s roommates dog, Guiness. Squeeee!! He’s so freakin’ cute!
Sunday we went to a Phillies spring training game against the Rays…
Yesterday we took Neil and Sara to the Strawberry Festival and made them eat all of the weird food. They started with the Taco in the bag…
Then we moved on to strawberry shortcake and Chocolate Dip’t Bacon…
We took a food break and watched the pig races. Sara participated. Her racing name was “Fried Fusion”.
This pig was more interested in eating the track then racing…
After the races, we ate the ultimate fair food, the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Burger. I can’t even look at the picture of this thing without wanting to vomit…
Yes internet, that is a hamburger placed between 2 glazed doughnuts. I took a video of us eating it…
They are all smoking crack because that was probably the worst thing I’ve ever eaten and I’m pretty sure it’s responsible for the killer stomach ache I had when I got home.
The weekend was fantastic and was much needed! I love when Neil and Sara visit and May cannot come fast enough!
Oh man, I have a treat for you guys.
Yesterday, my sister found a bunch of pictures from about 6-7 years ago and decided to plaster them all over her Facebook page.
She’s cool like that.
Back in the day, I used to play with my hair a lot, mainly dying it every color under the sun. If you’ve seen any recent pictures of me, you’ll know that my natural hair color is dark brown. I haven’t dyed it in years, but once upon a time my hair was bleach blonde. It got so dry and damaged from the constant dye jobs that is literally started breaking off, so I decided to get ballsy and did a boy short haircut. People that know me now find it hard to believe my hair was ever that short. But now, there’s proof!!
LOOK! SHORT!!!
The dog in the picture is my old dog Lindy, the best dog ever.
This is an old picture of my friend Tom and I on Clearwater Beach. It was taken about 4 years ago, right around the beginning of January. Going to the beach in January is a normal activity for a person living in Florida, but this week, it has been so cold out that I had to wait for the ice on my car to thaw out before going to work this morning. There’s even rumors that it might *gasp* snow in Tampa this weekend. So when I got a text message on Monday saying that Tom was coming down from Philly to help his friend move this week, I automatically blamed him for bringing this bone chilling weather.
My parents went to Vegas today for the week, so we get to watch their dog. This is Dolly, not to be confused with Dali, our Miniature Schnauzer (who turned 11 yesterday, by the way). We haven’t even had her for 24 hours and she’s already barked at every dog in the neighborhood, stolen Dali’s food, and made herself a comfortable spot on the couch.
Dave’s Dad went to Portugal a few weeks ago to visit his parents and he came back with this adorable silver charm bracelet they had given me. I haven’t taken it off since I received it and plan on getting a few more charms to go with it.
I don’t really have a relationship with my grandparents on either side, so it’s nice to be accepted so openly into Dave’s family. 10 minutes after I started writing this, Dave came home to tell me his granpa had a stroke. He’s in the hospital and as far as we know he is doing okay, but after all the chaos that has gone on this week, which I’m in the process of trying to write down, I don’t know how much more bad news I can take.
Last week, I went to Orlando to a Photoshop Down and Dirty Tricks seminar for work. These classes are run by Scott Kelby, editor of Photoshop User and Layers Magazine. This guy is seriously bad ass when it comes to Photoshop. The classes were incredibly interesting and I learned a lot of new tricks.
In one of the classes, he showed us how to create that super high contrast, grungy effect to photos that seems to be quite popular nowadays.
This is a photo I took at Ft. Desoto beach ages ago for a photography class at AI. I can’t remember the names of the girls in the photo, but I think the one on the right was an interior design major and the girl on the left was my professors sister. I realize this isn’t the highest quality photo I’ve ever taken, but I needed something with some contrast that was fairly close up on the face.
This is the final result. It’s basically a 21 step process that involves layer masking, dodging and burning, changing layer blending modes and the high pass filter. I haven’t really played around with photoshop in awhile, so it was kind of fun to take what I learned at the seminar and brush up on my own skills. I think I’m going to watch some of these tutorials and play around some more!
