There are certain little things in this world that, for whatever reason, drive me nuts. I’m not talking about things that I really can’t stand. I have plenty of those. These are things that annoy me so badly that I feel like I can’t function for a split second. They’re all really dumb and I’m pretty sure that the 5 people who read this blog will think I need to be medicated, which is probably true. Whatever. You guys don’t come here for normal, do you?
1. Driving behind a person with their turn signal on
This one gets me every time. I usually just switch lanes, but if I’m on a 2 lane road that doesn’t always work and then I can do nothing but stare at the turn signal and curse at the people in the car for not turning it off. HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW!!!
2. “Picky” Eaters
I’m not talking about the people that say “no tomato” on their sandwich. I’m talking about people that claim they don’t like certain foods, but have never actually tried them.
I’m a “don’t knock it ’til you try it” kind of person when it comes to food. I’ve tried a lot of different types and there are only a few things I don’t like (olives, bananas and mushrooms). I like trying new places and tasting different things, so picky eaters really cramp my style. If the only places you want to go out to eat or Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday’s or any other crap hole chain restaurant, I probably don’t want to eat with you.
3. The Phrase “I want to touch base”
I think everyone has that one saying they really hate. This one is mine. I hear this a least once a day too, and every time I grit my teeth and my brain has a mini explosion.
This makes no sense, unless you are playing baseball. What’s wrong with “I’d like to talk to you” or “I want to sit down with you” or anything other than this stupid saying?!?!
4. When the volume on the radio is not a number divisible by 5
I’m pretty sure this is the one that will make me sound the most neurotic. The volume control on my car stereo is digital. If the number it displays is not divisible by 5, I must change it. If it’s on 14, I’ll kick it up a notch to 15. It has to has to be that way because if it’s not, the world may end.
So I told you mine, so what are some of the things that make YOU crazy?

Ha! You would hate me.. the volume of my radio is ussually either 21 or 24! LOL! no 5 involved!
However, things that I hate are People who think they are the best thing that happened to this world and they are the worst people. I hate hypocrisy and disrespect. =)
Lately, I’m just tired of WAITING. Like, I’m bored. WAY bored, so that’s making me stabby. What else?
I’m pretty tired of people on Twitter who follow me to boost their numbers only to UN-follow me once I follow them back so they look more important by having a larger following while following less people. I mean, how LAME.
That Twitter thing IS pretty lame. Some people will do anything for attention!
You’re right, “I want to touch base” is such a bizarre phrase. There’s this weird aloofness about it that kind of comes off as patronizing.
I use to be one of those picky eaters. I would be all like, “Ewwww. I hate sushi!” And when asked if I had ever tried it I would respond with the fact that it simply didn’t look good so it MUST be nasty.
That was until I tried sushi for the first time. OMG. Orgasm in my freaking mouth!
Nowadays, I’ll try anything at least once. Makes life more interesting.
Totally guilty of using some variation of the “touch base” phrase on the phone and even in email.
I always increase my car radio volume by 2, so it’s on an even number, unless I’m really rocking out, when 25 is perfect. I knew I wasn’t the only one to have neurotic volume rules.
Ha! I almost always have mine set to 25, mostly because I listen to mainly talk and have a hard time hearing
HAHAHA you sound like me. As for the whole volume thing, I’m the same way when it comes to my alarm clock. I can’t get out of bed until the time is on a number divisible by 5. If it’s 8:32, I have to wait til 8:35. If I pass it up and it’s 8:36, I must wait til 8:40. Weird but it just is.
3. The Phrase “I want to touch base”
Or it’s cousin, “Let’s connect.” Sadly, because both of those phrases are so incredibly common in my office, I often end up saying both without realizing them. I really dislike them.
And speaking of work, the one thing that just wears on my very last nerve is whispering. I hate it when people whisper in the vicinity of my desk at work. There are like 5 other places anyone could go to have a private discussion, and yet…they all whisper in the vicinity of my desk. I hate that.
Babs, I need to touch base with you about Saturday. Hit me back, yo
Love the stereo volume thing, I like everything to be done in multiples of 9!! Odd… yip I sure am!! Love your blog, lots of fun!

I can sympathize with number 1, especially living in Miami, where everyone drives like sh*t. I hate when people put their turn signal to turn right, and then they turn LEFT. OH MAH GAH that drives me up the wall!!!!!!! But, girl number 4, hahahhahaa. You’re on your own there.
I’ve never been to Miami, but I hear it’s one of the worst places to drive.
So I too hate people that drive with their blinkers on and CAN’T STAND it when things are easily divided period. Volume on anything.
I mean I’m also someone that eats m&m’s in 2′s. One for each side of my mouth and yes, I freak out if there is an odd amount in the bag and bite the m&m in half for an even number.
I know this will be weird, but I hate when people slurp their drinks. This woman I worked with used to slurp her coffee constantly—and it was so loud! I didn’t understand why it was hard to drink quietly.
In terms of picky eaters, I don’t like “hesitant eaters.” These are the people who hesitate before eating something sweet because they’ll “get fat” or it has “too many” calories. If eating one cupcake or cake made you instantly fat, I think we’d have a lot of fatties walking around already.
There are more, but I’d be going on for too long.
ughhhhh “i want to touch base” drives me crazy too! haha
