We’ve all had those sleepless nights where we turn on the TV hoping to find something entertaining to watch. More often than not though, were sucked in by those crazy infomercials promising a product that will give you rock hard abs in just seconds, make the perfect poached egg, or one of my personal favorites, keep your body warm but your hands free.

Some of these products are truly awesome. Dave has a slight obsession with As Seen on TV products, so we own quite a bit of these gems. The Magic Bullet blender rules and the Snuggie (don’t hate) is very effective in keeping me warm while still having my arms to browse the internet for random crap for these posts. But some of these products, even to an As Seen on TV Junkie like Dave, are absolutely ridiculous. Below are some of my favorite stupid As Seen on TV Products.

Comodynes Self Tanning Towlettes

Comodynes promise to get your pasty, white skin tan in just hours with a simple wipe! If you’re going for the orange zebra look, this is the way to go.

Quik Trim

Quik Trim is another bogus diet pill endorsed by Kim and Khloe Kardashian that helps you “burn calories, support energy levels, and supercharge your workouts”. The thing I really don’t get about Quik Trim is that it is endorsed by girls that aren’t fat. Ok, so Khloe was a little chunky and Kim has that ginormous ass, but when Kirstie Alley was the spokesperson for Jenny Craig (before she fell off the wagon), it made sense. She was a cow, she did Jenny Craig, she became less of a cow. My point is, these girls are already fairly attractive and thin, yet they are the spokesperson for a pill that is supposed to help you lose weight. That alone should be a red flag that this product is shit. You want to lose weight? Get off your ass and on a treadmill.

My Little Reminder

The My Little Reminder is for people that have trouble “remembering what they don’t write down”. You record your “reminder” into the device and play it back when “it’s time.” What a shakedown. If you’re too old or too stupid to figure out simple things like where you parked your car, you probably shouldn’t be driving. I’m going to go ahead and post the actual commercial and then this awesome dubbed version someone did; both equally hilarious.

Ab Energizer

This is probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. The Ab Energizer is designed to electrocute your abs into shape. While I was researching this hunk of disappointment, I came across some reviews from people dumb enough to actually waste $100 (plus S&H) on it.

I ordered one of the units from the Ab Energizer infomercial on 12/15/01 and received it sometime in late January or early February. I was billed 120.75 on my credit card. I returned the unit sometime in February, 2002 to the Fulfillment Center for Ab Energizer. I included a copy of the invoice along with a note asking for a refund to be credited back to my original method of payment. I emailed “orders@abenergizer.com” in September, 2002 as instructed by the call center, with no response about my refund. I repeatedly tried calling and emailing only to find the number disconnected and no such address exists on internet.

It is now November, 2007, and I am still waiting on my refund with no response from Ab Energizer. I am out of 120.75, not to mention the aggravation and humiliation of being duped by a disreputable organization.

I bought an Ab Energizer and it did not work, and I never got my refund!

I weep for humanity.

The Shake Weight
I saved my favorite for last. The Shake Weight is fairly new so I’m going to assume you’ve already been bombarded with the infomercials. Here’s a parody of the commercial that pretty much sums up everything I was going to say about it.
